Notes:

  1. Take a AM/FM Radio with built-in speaker, Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket AM/FM Radio, Silver $14 from Amazon
  2. Take a Sawyer Squeeze Water Filter to use when fresh water is unavailable $25
  3. Take a large umbrella for shade and the occasional rain shower; and, a slight chance to used it as a sail
  4. Take a comfortable folding chair if at all possible
  5. Take a large towel to protect your lap from the sun when it is directly overhead; made from something that will dry quickly
  6. Take a spare paddle, they do break and sometimes they go missing, especially when you don't store it properly while eating in the boat or overnight
  7. Take sun screen, wear a wide brim hat, and be mindful of the sun when paddling directly into the sun
  8. Take 50-foot of decent rope
  9. Take a large lightweight tarp to create shade, shelter, wind block, or more likely a superzsize ground cloth
